Linear equations
An equation is a balance in equilibrium. Do the same to both sides and it stays balanced, until only x is left.
What you need first
Why
You rent a bike in Bruges: a fixed fee of 5 euros plus 3 euros per hour. You pay 20 euros. How long did you ride?
You could try: 1 hour, 2 hours, 3 hours... That still works here, but with bigger numbers or decimals it soon gets tiresome.
With an equation you write down what you know: 3x+
